Test Arrangement
Various barrier specimens were mounted on to a a testing structure with a test rig from steel with sufficient strength to withstand loads applied to it. For each test, load was applied at the top of glass at 1100mm height above finished floor level. Load was measured with a load cell and the deflection of the barrier from its neutral position was measured with a digital clock. The impact test was executed with two glass panels with slotted handrail. The tests were done according to one or more of the following standards: BS-EN-1991-1-1,BSI 6180
Glass Adapters used in the Test
GC60-F4-500, GC70-F4-500
Glass used in the Test
16.76 (8mm-0.76-8mm) laminated with PVB film and toughened; 21,52 (10mm-1,52-10mm) laminated with PVB film and toughened
15mm and 19mm Monolithic Toughened glass

Table 2: For Ø70mm Glass Adapter (GC70-F4-500)
Please note:
a) The loading was applied to the top of the glass pane at a height of 1100mm above finished floor level, being 50mm above the upper adapters (see assembly drawings. The spacing between the adapters is according to the above Tables 1 and 4.
b) Glass heights: 100 + B (vertical spacing between adapters) + 50 +1100mm, giving the corresponding heights according to Table 3. for the different values of B.
c) Tests are based only to the above mentioned mounting arrangement.
Table 3: Glass Heights
Value of B | Glass Height |
150mm | 1400mm |
190mm | 1440mm |
200mm | 1450mm |
230mm | 1480mm |
